The Year of
Jubilee
What is the Year of Jubilee. It was proclaimed in the Old
Testament in the book of Leviticus. It was a year of canceling all debts and wrongs.
Lev 25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim
liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto
you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man
unto his family.
If you read the entire chapter of Lev. 25 you will see all that is
covered. It was a year of complete freedom from all debt and all possessions returned to
them.
In Isaiah it is prophesied of Jesus that he would be our
Jubilee.
Isa 61:1-11 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the
LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to
them that are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to
comfort all that mourn;
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of
joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be
called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolation’s, and they
shall repair the waste cities, the desolation’s of many generations.
And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your
plowmen and your vinedressers.
But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our
God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast
yourselves.
For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion:
therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto
them.
Isa 61:11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that
are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to
spring forth before all the nations.
Then when Jesus came He stood the first time He ever spoke
any where and said the following.
Luke 4:18-21 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he
hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the
brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes
of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
We don’t have to wait for every fifty years as they did in the old
Testament. Our year of Jubilee is now. Every day we can claim Jubilee because of what
Jesus said here.
What has he promised us?
1) That He preachs the Gospel to the poor! Let the Poor say I
am rich!
2Cr 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that,
though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might
be rich.
2) He came to heal the broken hearted. No more sorrow.
Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto
them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD,
that he might be glorified.
3) Preach deliverance to the captives. We have been set free
from all oppression. All bondage that the devil would try to put us in. We are free!!
Gal 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law,
being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a
tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not
entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
4) To give sight to the blind. Both physically and spiritually.
We see the manifestation of the physical healing of the blind throughout the
Gospels.
Mat 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the
lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the
gospel preached to them.
And he also took away Spiritual blindness.
Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind.
And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
John 16:7-13 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for
you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I
depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin,
and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of
righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because
the prince of this world is judged.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall
not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew
you things to come.
The Holy Spirit is here to open blind eyes to the truth of the
Word of God
5) To Set at liberty them that are bruised
Isa 42:3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax
shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of
power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
He wants us whole. He doesn’t want us bruised or hurting in
any way.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed.
6) He preached the acceptable year of the Lord
Isa 49:8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I
heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give
thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate
heritages
2Cr 6:2 For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and
in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold,
now is the day of salvation.
When is the Acceptable year of the Lord! Now! Now we have
Jubilee. Now we have freedom! We just need to accept it and live in the freedom that
Jesus has possessed for us. No longer in bondage to the world and the world system.
God is our source and He will see us through!
Jesus is our Jubilee! He has pardoned all our debt and
transgressions. He has replaced it with Prosperity, Health, Wholeness of Spirit Soul and
Body. Anything we need to live in Victory.
2Pe 1:2-4 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the
knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life
and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these
ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the
world through lust.
This is the beginning of a Jubilee year for us all!!
