A Study On Worship

Lesson 1

The Ancient Of Days

Daniel 7:9b

The Ancient of days was seated, his garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head was like pure wool.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 Long before the world began, there was God. He has no beginning and He has no end. He just always has existed. This may be hard for us to understand, but we have to accept it by faith.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the word was God

This tells us that Jesus has always been too, since He is the Word Of God.

Genesis1:2 The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters

This show us that the Holy Spirit has always been as well.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit have always been in existence and so always will be.

God had all of beautiful heaven with Angels to worship Him, and yet he created this earth and us, to fellowship with him. To think that he wanted someone to walk with and talk with and he made us, is an awesome thought. He had everything he needed, but he wanted us. I canít imagine having all of heaven and yet reaching down and creating all of the universe and the earth and every tree, animal, and everything that exists, just for us. Genesis 1:26

Even though Daniel 7: 9-14 refers to God as the Ancient of Days, it doesnít mean he is shaky and falling apart and ready to die. He is just as powerful as He has ever been.

Daniel 7: 9-10 I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated. His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, itís wheels a burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him. Ten Thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.

What an awesome visual that is. There are few descriptive passages of God in the scriptures, but this is one of them. Can you see Him? A thousand, thousands ministered to Him. Are you one of those thousand thousands?

Daniel 6: 26-27 Even this heathen King saw how powerful God is. He saw how He saved Daniel from the lionís den and he was converted.

Isaiah 40:28, 29 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints, nor is weary. The is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the weak. And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Psalm 121:4-6 Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is you keeper. The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, not the moon by night.

Jeremiah 23:23-24 Am I a God near at hand, says the Lord, and not a god afar off? Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him? says the Lord.

He never sleeps. Heís always watching over us. He is always near at hand. Heís not far away. Heís right beside you. He fills all of heaven and earth. He is a Big God! He is there for you no matter what. He was there for Moses, Abraham, Joshua and Paul, and He is there for us.

Isaiah 44:6 God is the First and the Last, and beside Him, there is no God.

There have been people that have come along that have tried to proclaim themselves as God. But they are all dead and gone. But God is still God and always will be.

When Moses asked God "Who shall I say sent me?" God said "I AM WHO I AM. Say I AM sent me to you." What does that mean? He always has been and always will be. Whatever you need, he is the answer. If you need deliverance. He is the deliverer! If you need healing, He is the Healer! Whatever you need, I AM is the answer!

He proved that to the Israelites over and over again. Remember the Red Sea?

John 8:57-58 Then the Jews said to Him "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them " Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM!"

He was the Great I AM in the New Testament too. God is the Great I AM to you. Whatever your need, just ask Him. He loves you so much that He will always provide for you.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today, and forever

Hebrews 13:5 He will never leave you nor forsake you.

God is the Ancient of Days. His Kingdom will never pass away. He is worthy of our praise. As we continue our study in Worship, we will get to know God better and learn why we need to praise and worship Him.

This was an introduction. If you know who He is, you will know why He deserves our Worship. If I just jumped right into the teaching on how to worship and didnít give you an insight into who you were worshipping, it wouldnít mean much.

Letís take the time to "Know" God, and then we will be able to "Worship" Him. The next 5 lessons will continue in getting to know the God we worship. And then, you will be ready to worship. It is a long study, because it is not something you can rush. I am sure you will enjoy it and will be able to worship God freely when we are done.
