Lets take some of these scriptures and look at them see if we can come up with

What is truth?

If God wants us to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, we should know what it is.

Who did John bare witness of? Jesus, so Jesus is truth

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

So if we know Jesus, we shall be free.

John 14:17, John 15:26, both refer to the "Spirit of Truth"

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me

What makes Him the Spirit of Truth? He is part of the Godhead and part of Jesus and the Father, which makes the Father Truth as well.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

So we see that the word is Truth, who is the word?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God, the same was in the beginning with God

So the Word is Jesus, The Word is God, The Word is Truth.

So we see that the Truth is God the Father, God the Son, And God the Holy Spirit, since the three are one.

So how do we use this truth?

II Corinthians 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left

Ephesians 5:9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We need to study the word, know the truth, and use it to stand against the devil. Then the power of God will be there, and the fruits will be evident in our lives.

But you must "Know" the truth, not just read it.

Lots of people read God’s word, but if you don’t get it in your heart, it will not be real to you, and you will not know how to use it.

I John 2:7 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

The anointing is where the power is. The Word is anointed but you need the anointing to make it work for you. For, the anointing breaks the yoke.

I John 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

I John 2:3, 4 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

We must be walking in the word of Truth, with no sin in our life to make it work for us. For sin and lies are not of God, they are of their father the devil.

With all of these scriptures we see perhaps why it was the first piece of armor mentioned. For without Truth, we have no support. The God head is the foundation of our armor. The girdle of truth is a very important part of the armour, and that is why it is put on first.

The girding of the loins was done as a support. It was a garment that was wrapped around the waist and then brought up through the legs and tucked in at the waist, much like the modern day girdle, in theory. It gave support for the loins and strength for the back in battle.

So Jesus the Truth, is our support and strength in time of trouble. The Holy Spirit, leads us and guides us into all truth and the Father leads us to worship in Spirit and in Truth. This is our first step to be ready for battle. So let us gird up our loins with the word of truth. Stand firm on the word of Truth.

I John 4:1-6 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error

Next week we will look at the second piece of armour. Ephesians 6:11 says "Put on the "Whole" armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Don’t go out half dressed!
