Deuteronomy 30:19-20
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I
have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore, choose
life, that both you and your seed may live.
That you may love the Lord you God and that you may obey his
voice, and that you may cling unto him, for he is your life and the length of
your days, that you may dwell in the land.
God has given us the choice to choose life or death,
blessing or cursing. Why do some people choice death and cursing over Life and
blessing? It does not even make sense but sadly, it is the truth. Even
though life is in front of them to choose, they stay in death and cursing. This
is what Deut. 28 has to say about choosing life.
Deut 28: 1-2 And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently
unto the voice of the LORD your God, to observe and to do all his commandments
which I command you this day, that the LORD thy God will set you on high above
all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on you, and
overtake you, if you shall hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deut 28: 15 But it shall come to pass, if you will not hearken unto the
voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his
statutes which I command you this day; that all these curses shall come upon
you, and overtake you
It is a simple choice. Listen to God and His word and do
as it says and the blessings will come. Ignore the word of God and the curses
will some.
If you read the rest of this chapter you will see what the
blessings and what are the curses. Sickness and disease are included in the
curses as are health and healing in the Blessings. Poverty is in the curse,
Prosperity is in the blessings. It is a clear choice and yet why do people seem
to choose the curses? We have to take it back to what we are taught and what we
believe. If you were taught a certain way all your life, you will continue to
believe and act that way until you renew your mind to the word of God. If what
you were taught was negative, then that is what you will live. If you were
taught unbelief and doubt that is what you will live. Only as you get into the
word of God and find out what it has to say, will you change your way of
thinking and doing what you have always done.
Galatians 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under theelements of the world:
Verse 9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of
God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire
again to be in bondage?
Habit is one of the worst things to keep you in bondage.
We get used to doing something a certain way and rather then have to change it,
even though it would be a much better way, we choose to stay the way we are. Our
nature does not want to change it’s ways. It isn’t comfortable to have to
change. We want things the easy way. But there is an old saying.
“Anything worth having is worth working for”
Change does not come easy. It requires something of us. We
have to exert our will to make things happen. And then we have to be determined
to stick with it until we see the results we want.
Hebrews 2:14,15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and
blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he
might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their
lifetime subject to bondage.
Jesus paid the price. He destroyed the power of death for us.
He has delivered us from fear and bondage. We don’t have to let it rule us any
more. If we really want things to change, we have to do something
about it. Can we do this on our own? Maybe for a while, but it won’t last. We
can only have permanent victory when we let Christ have control of our lives. We
have to give up old ways and habits and conform to him.
How do we do this?
We need to change our thinking. Get it in line with the word
of God and let it transform us. We have to stop being conformed to the world’s
way of thinking and doing things. The word of God is the only truth and we need
to renew our minds to it. Let it do it’s work in us.
Romans 12:1 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God.
What do you need to conform to the word of God? What thinking
do you need to change? Give it to Jesus. He won the victory for us. Don’t let
satan deceive you into thinking that you can never change. That things will
always be the same and that there is no hope for you. That is a lie of the devil
to keep you in bondage. There is always hope as long as you have breath.
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made
us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Jesus wants us free from whatever is holding us in bondage. He
does not want to see us suffering and defeated. He wants us to have Victory and
freedom over whatever stands in our way. We do not have to walk in bondage. We
have the victory, we just need to tap into it.
I John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is
the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcomes
the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
I Corinthians 15:57-58 But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, un-
moveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that
your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
If we have faith in God we can do anything! We are
over-comers! We have the Victory! We cannot be defeated! We will not quit! We
are un-moveable! All things are possible!!
If we can just get that down into our spirit, we can
accomplish anything. If it means something to you, it means something to God.
Don’t ever think that he is not interested in even your smallest problem. He
cares about everything about you and he always has time for you.
Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this
mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in
his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to
pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things
soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have
them.
Just remember that God is on your side. He will never fail.
And He will never leave you or forsake you. And if you listen to Him and obey
His word, you can have Victory today.
